“It’s finally that time again! Wearing wool socks to bed, having your nipples poke through your cashmere sweater, hot cider, pumpkin picking, and of course taking a weekend drive up to the Catskills to get your wood chopping and marshmallow roasting on! The Catskills Pack is available at the MOB SHOP, hurry up and get your ass in this shit before it freezes off!”
you can view more from the pack here.

never not working. well except for today.
just had the perfect do nothing day on this beautiful fall day. forgot how easy laying in bed all day with someone could be. everything we wanted and needed right there next to us. felt like i was in a 5 star hotel. could have used a copy of the lion king dvd but whatevs. what an amazing day. too bad it can’t be like this all time.
don’t get cheesed, i’ll holler.
back replying to emails and messages tomorrow.
every good day needs a good song. i’ve got two…
Little Boots – Bring It On (Leon Jean-Marie Cover)
Opus III vs. Little Boots – Fine Boots (Richard X Mashup)
damn! i feel good. thanks.

she’s prolly like 20 now or something. but damn she’s hot! peep the all new Married to the Mob collection for more. I just grabbed these to post…

Greg Street – Good Day (ft. Nappy Roots)
don’t watch me, watch Gossip Girl! past Monday’s episode of Gossip Girl (The Ex-Files) was the lick! I’ve watched it like 3 times already. and the scene with this track, my oh my. i can’t get enough of this shit. next week’s episode (“The Serena Also Rises” ) looks to be yet another killer. Watch the episode and peep where this song comes on. Sooo good!
“It’s all about to hit the fan, hit the flo’. That’s all I stands, an’ I can’t stands no ‘mo”
more youtube. IT’S OUR TIME! ‘
sorry for all the youtube video posts. fuck that. my blog. i can do whatever the fuck i want. and i really don’t feel like posting tracks.
still, this is like the sexiest cover song ever. little boots ready for the floor (hot chip cover). she’s so hot! i wish i was her number one guy.
no need to worry. i aint on a “I need a bitch” trip. I just aint feelin’ rap music like I use to.
damn! i love this song.
Here’s a video of Kid Cudi rapping with DJ AM mixing out of Yung Joc into Day and Night and Travis Barker drumming over it.
Kinda makes me hella over it. Wait a darn sec. Actually the fact that the Crookers remix of Day and Night is played once by every DJ and at least 4 times a nite in Toronto made me over it. This was more of a “laugh out loud” cause you know its gotten so wiggidy wiggidy wack icing on the cake kinda thing.
Check yourself before you wreck yourself. I forgot that recently. But I’m charmed. I managed to get away with cuts and bruises. Plus a few people might be mad. But I don’t care about most (IF NOT ALL) of them anyways. Kudi might not be so lucky.
Thanks. Finally, I can breathe again.
Anyone else have an opinion? Leave it on the comment box. I wanna hear what ya’ll think of this or of me. HOLLERRR!!!
i wear ‘em cause i’ m a ninja!
Kardinal Offishall – Tide is High (feat. Pussycat Dolls
I was trying to make this something worth dreaming of.

Gotta go. See you when I see you.
I just got this new remix from Designer Drugs in my email. It’s pretty rad. Btw: Rad is my new word. Well not new, but one that I’m bringing back. Ya’ heard me?
Countdown MSTR EXTENDED (DESIGNER DRUGS) – Jupiter One

“Haven’t you heard? I’m the crazy bitch around here.”
Nice little video for Calvin Harris’s “The Girls”.

Stolen minutes ago from Kidz by Colette, it’s the Crookers May mix. RETARDED!!! BTW: I’m tryin’ to plan a road trip to Ottawa for Canada Day to see Crookers, anyone interested?
Cuizinier – Lettre F ft. Spankrock and Pase Rock
I jacked the original mp3 off of iheartcomix. My bad! But really, why wouldn’t I repost this track? Call the hook my official theme song. Seen it!

The MTTM Spring/Summer collection is now out. There’s also a Reebok x MTTM collab that’s pretty nice.

One time Toronto favourite when it came to drum and bass, the legendary Grooverider has been sentenced to 4 years in jail in Dubai. For what? For 2.6 grams of tree and some porn.
Damn son! I’ll make sure to never go there cause I’ll definietly never make it back to Canada alive. I’ll most likely be stoned to death. Get it? Hahaha.
But the Grooverider situation is no laughing matter kids. Serious business. What will Fabio do now?
Blaze a fatty for one of the leaders of what was once considered the future sound.

Let’s call it a 3peat. Yet another Mad Decent post. I’m guessing we can expect some big things from the label for the year 2008. I got it off Discobelle. The last two songs on the mix totally murder it.
Here’s one of my favourite Diplo tunes as an added *bonus*
Diplo – Must Be A Devil

Did I mention how much I love The Bloody Beetroots and how I can’t wait for them to murder Toronto? This shit is so hard its guaranteed to make your ears bleed. But wait a second, don’t you bitches like real hard anyways?
Here’s something to make you look forward to March 16th. It’s their latest mix. Jammed pack with all their bloody shit.

YO-EV! It’s Monday Already?! - “IN IT TO WIN IT BAYBEE!” Edition
I’m still doing the write up for this week’s It’s Monday Already?! mix. Relax, hold tight and listen to the mix. Just for now.

So I have a job now and the Monday mix is up on a Monday. Maybe I’m finally starting to grow up (but prolly not). How was your weekend? Mine was aight. Went to Squares Stay Home and caught Thunderheist and Paul Devro with Jokers of the Scene. That was ok.
But why am I even blabbing on, we all know what you’re here for. And I know ya’ll missed us last week. So here it is…

There’s a sick party at Teranga tonite thats worth checking out. They just posted two mini mixes as a warm up for the event. Too bad I already have plans of my own. If you’re not to sure what you’re saying, roll through Boom. Definitely on some next tip with these cats.

Last Sunday was retarded. It made me realize that I’m definitely really into electro parties and all that goes with it. The fact that Uffie pulled another no show was like the icing on the cake. Why? Because in her place MSTRKRFT came and tore the fucking building up. It was like a goddamn Beatles concert in there. Bitches just losing their shit. Check the rest of the photos from the nite on Shark versus Bear. You’ll get the idea. Steve Aoki was aight, but those crazy Canadians did a nice little number for their hometown. Can’t seriously wait for the next one. Call me a late bandwagon jumper or whatever. But they sold me on that shit for sure.
And if you’re still on that “I aint feelin’ this shit homie”, I got the NYE mix by MSTRKRFT from LA that’ll shut yo’ ass up! See ya on the dancefloor with yo’ drank and yo’ two step this weekend bitches!!!

Yet another fuckin’ mix from the French. It’s not like I’m complaining or anything, but I’m gonna have to change this blog’s name to the mixtape dump or something. This one’s bananas. I recently just added DJ Kesmo to my Myspace page and low and behold, first bulletin I notice him post is this tight booty mix. I’m definitely gonna bounce to France before or during the summer. Do a little Cream Team invasion of some sort. Holler!
All the way from France, the mini mix goes international. Yessur, Freeze the Booty Hunter was kind enough the set up the blog with this dope ass fresh booty mix. Just click the pic and get yo’ download on.

I wanna apologize to all you party peoples expecting to see me at Swagger Blaster. I wasn’t able to stop by to make an appearance cause I was hella sick. Still am actually. Lipton chicken noodle soup, green tea and mad weed for my punk ass. Now where the fuck’s my nurse at?

Saving myself the trouble of having to excuse yet another late monday mix, I present to you with a random selection mix post to calm yo’ nerves till our next episode. This one’s hot fire. All I have to say is make sure to watch out for L-vis 1990 in the year 2008. Dude’s definitely gonna be blowin’ spots up. Hope for a North American tour.
Heres the track list… HOT NEW SHIT!
1. Bitch Ass Darius – Ride (Intro)
2. L-Vis1990 – Black Snax (Ghetto Riddim)

It seems that the Monday mix is crack. Like new sneaker drops at Footlocker on a Saturday, people fiending this shit. I haven’t seen the blog’s traffic on a Tuesday this busy since like ever. And I haven’t even posted the mix yet. But thats about to change.
This weeks mix isn’t like the one before it. Well thats because last week I posted it with NYE’s aftermath in mind. This week ’s definitely more on the ‘WELCOME BACK’ to reality tip. But enough small talk. Save that shit for the water cooler…

It never fails that we arent ever able to post the Monday mix on time. It aint suprising though. People like us tend to run into problems meeting deadlines. It can be a bad thing. But I am also really good at covering my shit. So to tie things over until the mix is posted, hopefully in a few hours…I found this nice little mix by OG bunny jawn, Oxy Cottontail. Definitely more on the eazy listening tip, I highly recommend it to any of my bitches peeping the blog. There is some heavy promo on the mix, but you cant knock someone on the hustle. Its just part of the grind. Hope you feel it…
Hollerdazed in Hollerlulu – Oxy’s Winter Mix
I seriously have a stock pile of mixes to last many more Monday missed mixes. They might be new, they might be old…but I’m sure most of ‘em come really handy when you’re typing away in front of the computer either at school or at work.

And it seems that the French do to. Ever since Egyptrixx put me on to Raziek, I’ve been keeping an eye out on the booty scene there in France. They seem to have this shit on lock. And since I’m still tripping on Ev’s set from The Gift of Booty, I’ve gonna share with ya’ll some new mixes from Freeze the Booty Hunter.

It’s going down hard tonite at The Drake Underground. I can’t hardly fucking’ wait.
From Eye Weekly
“Sometimes there’s a good reason why an up-and-coming producer’s name is on everyone’s lips. Brooklyn’s Dre Skull is a shining example of that. The dude makes perfect party music, with two recent singles featuring MC Juiceboxxx leading the charge — the irresistible pop-hop, hip-house combo of both “Sweat” and the new “Center Stage” make them surefire dancefloor anthems. Both songs have made their way onto prominent compilations, BBC radio shows and blogs galore, with Dre also being tapped to work with Brazil’s Bonde Do Role. Check his super-fun mix on Discobelle.net to get psyched to go out for the night. Locals Egyptrixx and DJ Lucie are sure to pump up the volume as well.”
There’s really nothing more to say.

Ev just sent me this. It’s his latest blend/edit. I wish I had more time to do a better write up. But right now it’s just too hectic. Why don’t you guys download the track and tell me what you think by leaving some comments, cool?

There’s a really good explanation as to why you’re getting the Its Monday, Already? mix on Wednesday morning. I’m suffering one of the worst known cases of the Monday’s. The kind that last for like a whole week (+ another 24 hours) . I’m actually not over it yet. But I can’t stall anymore. For serious. It was just one thing after another. This winter will be the death of me. I just feel it.
Gossip Girl was seriously intense lastnite. And I’m praying that tonite, Dirty Sexy Money will be a new episode. Wooot!

First off, I wanna congratulate Egyptrixx on his signing with Wide Records from the UK. Look for him 0n their upcoming compliation due out before the end of the year. He’s also expecting to drop an EP around March ‘08. Really big things! He was live on the radio last nite and he just sent me his set to post up here. Consider it a little preview of what you’ll be getting on Thursday…
What’s Thursday? If you haven’t already heard, we’re doing The Drake Underground with Dre Skull form Brooklyn, NYC as our very special guest. It’ll be his first time in Toronto and hoping ya’ll will be down to show him how it goes down. RSVP on our Facebook invite.
Image above courtesy of Pretty Empty. She is also responsible for our Dre Skull flyer.

Just in case you didn’t know this, one of my favourite up and coming labels, Fools Gold now has a blog. Wooot!

This week’s mix would have been totally on time if it wasn’t for the fact that I just woke up. Can you say long weekend? Damn! And for some weird ass reason, I have tons of weekend leftovers. Anyone wanna come over and get fucked up?

Goodfoot’s Holiday goods are now in stock at the store and it’s looking tight. Need this sweater like yesterday! Cop that shit! Cop that shit! More flicks on Matt’s blog.

This mix is a little old. About 6 months old to be exact, but considering the amount of daily outgoing clicks I get on the Justice Essential mix, I figured I’d put this up here as well. The mix is by Ed Banger Records DJ/Producer SebastiAn. It dates back to 18/05/2007. Better late than never!

I aint even tryin’ to talk about how dope Topshelf Motherfucker is. I’ve gone on and on about these cats for years. They may not be Supreme or Stussy, but they are Toronto and Canada. And that to me is worth every penny. I like my shirts like I like my dranks, Topshelf Motherfucker! Shit! I’m wearing one right now.
They’ve just been blasted by Hypebeast. So sooner than later, you can expect Japanese cats lining up on King St. for that next cop.

The first release on DJ Nasty Nav’s new label is finally out. Congratulation’s homie! Hope to see some dope Toronto production witin the upcoming releases.

Returning to yet another hectic work week? Don’t fret we’ve got that “Monday, Already?” mixtape for ya’ll. Eventually we’ll start making a tracklisting and a proper cover. For now, let’s just enjoy the music.
Yo! Evstarr, run that track…

Even though the term ” I ♥ Lucy” seems rather tired and used, I’m still runnig with it. With that said, here’s the post…
DJ Lucie is the latest to join in on the mixtape action. This one’s a little dated but I’m gonna use it to get you familiar with this beautiful and talented DJ. She’s already playing regularly and should be making serious moves in the very near future.
DJ Lucie LIVE for www.remixthis.ca

Yo’ Evstarr rolls out yet another exclusive for the blog….

S.T.A. is yet another DJ/Producer making some big noise outta Toronto. Just listen to this remix of Joe Budden’s Fire. He also just put out his November mixtape (about two weeks ago) which I’ve added on to this post. Give it a listen. It’ll definitely beat what you’re listening to. Well, except if you’re listen to the It’s Monday, Already? mix or the Afrika Loves Egytprixx. Then you can just ignore this post until later on…

Starting November 22nd and every Thursday after that, we’ve got your newest weekly “Stop N Go” inside Baby Dolls (the strip club). Giving you the best in southern rap, booty bass and reggae. This is gonna be banging. And the best part is that we’ll have the stopwatch in full effect. Get your $2 bills outta that shoe box cause this is gonna get nasty.

This week’s “It’s Monday, Already?” mix goes out to the 9-5am working class. We know how hard it is and how much you have to sacrifice to truly get by. And for some, 5 am isn’t even the end of it, you still gotta go to class or even worse…a real job. Get money!
DJ Evstarr & Strizzy Mac Present – It’s Monday, Already? Call Yo’ Dealer, Bitch!

So it’s just about noon here in Toronto and the “It’s Monday, Already?” mix isn’t quite done and won’t make the 12pm deadline. To help tie you over, I’m gonna redirect ya’ll to The Hood Internet for their Mixtape Volume 2. It’s incredible. Hopefully by the time you download it and listen to it, ours will be up and running. Sorry. At least it’ll be ready today. And next week we’ll be less tardy.

Possibly the most exciting event to happen in Toronto since like, ever. November 17th is just right around the corner. The details still seem rather sketchy, but no matter. Most likely everyone I know will still be there in full force. Don’t know what I’m going on about? I’m talking about two legendary street artist who’ve made crime pay, in some of the biggest ways stills. Futura and Stash will have their debut show in Canada, here in Toronto.

Sure seems like it. But when you run into something this good you don’t keep it to yourself, you fucking share it. So enough with the chit chat and let me get straight to my point, it’s mixtape sunday and I got the mixtape of all mixtapes.
Justice BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix (10.6.2007)

Pedestrian TV recently posted an interview with Uffie & DJ Feadz of Ed Banger with which I believe are some footages from their performance at The Mod Club like two summers ago. The title of this post is actually a direct quote from DJ Feadz in regards to the popularity of Ed Banger and the Paris party scene. Its a mentally that should be instilled in minds of the people in Toronto. With musical acts like MSTRKRFT, Thunderheist and VNDLSM leading the pact, it’s definitely a shame that we have no Canadian based record label to host them through. I know that in the coming weeks an associate of mine will be launching a label based out of Toronto. The question is will Toronto wait for the world to accept it before they do, or will the city stand up and support the real independents? There’s a Reason tee out there that states “Go Love your own City”, I believe that.

Finally! I can present the newest in my so called “mini mix” series. Big ups to David for this one. With all that’s going on right now for the crew, he managed to pull up and find time to get this done right.

Count of Monte Cristal – Ghetto Bitches (sinden)
DJ Godfather – Ready to go
DJ PJ – MegaMix
Egyptrixx – Mini Mix Volume II
It’s a bit surprising how David Psutka aka Egyptrixx is more known outside of Toronto rather than inside. The kid is nothing but pure talent. He shines cause he grinds. Egyptrixx has put in mad work as a producer/remixer/DJ. With forth coming remix releases for the likes of DJ Nasty, Syntonics and Raziek and then some, Toronto will have no choice but to deal with the matter. I’ m sure glad I snatch’d him out before ya’ll bothered to take notice. But do me the favor and book the fucker. You’re party more than needs, you’re crowd deserves it. And sooner than later he’ll have a permanent residency at a venue I might have mentioned below. But who knows…
DJ Raziek’s 5 Fingers
Raziek – 5 fingers (volume 2)

This upcoming week will see the official launch of the “It’s Monday Already?” weekly mix series. So to help you prepare for it, I’ve put this little nice collection of the freshest mixes I received in my in-box and some of the ones I found on line. Enjoy.

Egyptrixx put me onto Raziek just last week. See, Egyptrixx is doing a remix for him and they’ve been talking a lot lately. Hopefully we’ll have him down in the new year, once we find a venue for a ghetto tech/booty monthly we’re working on. He’s also helping us in putting together a French tour for Cream Team. Raziek’s got a new mix he did for Fahrenheit Prod. I’m totally into it.
fp. “too cool for school mixtape” by Raziek.
*update – here’s some mp3s as promised:
There’s some very good reasons as to why I’m doing this “Paper Planes” post. The first one would be that M.I.A.’s song has become my favourite track for this year. It’s just plane retarded (aren’t I sooo punny?). Considering the different remixes I’ve heard, I don’t see why it isn’t over played around hurrr. I use to be a bit of a hater towards M.I.A. when she first broke out, I found it odd that everyone was on her jock right away. I found her voice to be a bit annoying in that nagging sort of way as well. I’m guessing I got over that. Prolly cause I worked at Aritzia one year and all the girls that worked there had her album on repeat everyday all day. I saw her at the Phoenix in 2005, I think. I was there for sound check interviewing Spankrock for an article. I met Diplo and Rory there for the first time too. And well the rest is history…
The second is that I wanted to promote Zach’s amazing photo gallery of M.I.A.’s concert from a few weeks ago. He recently put it up on his website, Take More Photos. Right click that shit and open it on a new tab. Listen to the tracks below while you look Zach’s amazing photos. I highly recommend listening to the guacharaca remix from Argentina. Also the Bun B and Rich Boy remix.

*bonus track, I think it’s where the sample’s from…
**double bonus, here’s Luvtek remix of URAQT. I fuckin’ love M.I.A. now. See I can change.

Evstarr and I missed our deadline for the “it’s Monday Already” mix release yesterday. It was actually missed on purpose. We had really busy schedules and weren’t ready for it. But I promise that next week, we’ll definitely have it together. I know it’s Tuesday, but to help you with your totally boring work week, I’m gonna post a few of my friends mixes (all new) that they’ve posted the past few days. It should tie things over until we post the first “it’s Monday Already?” mix.
Also, visit The Curb Crawlers blog for Sek One’s bass mix.
*photos above – 1. Alicia, Kristen & Jen (my friends from high school) 2. Aurora and Nicki @ the B-Live Bacardi party 4. Your Boy Brian & his friends 3. All the cool kids at the Our Space after party. All from this past weekend.
Sorry for changing the look of the blog again. But after checking it on a homie’s computer, it seemed a little hard to read, so bare with me as I reformat all my previous post (why would I give myself so much extra unnecessary work?). It’s gonna take a couple of days. At the same time I’m already hard at work on the new site. Hopefully I can have that up before the new year.
Another man who’s really hard at work is Egyptrixx. The dude’s become like my right hand man. Remember though, Sushi Mane is my left hand man and Evstarr’s grinding really hard. We got so much on the go for ya’ll I wish I could tell you everything. But I can’t just cause shit can still fall through…
Back to Egyptrixx though. He’s got a few remixes on the go. A new mini mix for the blog and is doing a lot of the shit for me. Dude’s the man who’s really putting me to work. But he just finished this and sent it out. Give a listen to. It’s pretty tight. I’ll have more shit from him in the veryt near future.
While surfing the interweb ( which I constantly do A LOT!), I came across a really cool site called Nacho Pancho. They recently posted a very nice mix by Fraykerbreaks. It’s called Fraykerbreaks Presents…DJ Shadow Breaks Set. Hella damn good, too!
“Situation comedy has never been so foamy. Follow the mad busted misadventures of Krispy, the kid who’ll do anything to party in the downtown scene! Watch as he tries to follow the slightly skewered teachings of his much maligned mentor, Crunchy the crackhead. Check out the preview installment of the show…alright?”
I can’t believe I almost forgot this. Lil’ Hipster TV is fucking hilarious. They’re back with an all new season. This is like shit yer pants funny. Everyone needs to watch it. Brought to you by Kid America Club.
Definitely too early to be blogging, but what the heck Happy Devil’s Day! It’s gonna be a high of 16°C. Let’s make this a good one.
First off, I’d like to officially announce my plans to launch a new website within the upcoming weeks. I’m not trying for another music blogging site but to really jump off a Toronto music and art from our street culture site. Not a half assed one either, but a totally legit site where we can showcase the great and amazing talent within Toronto, the GTA and eventually Canada. A site with interviews of locals doing big things, download-able mp3’s to sample their new music or view samples of their art work. A chance for Toronto and the world to see what’s poppin’ in the ‘dot. I think we’re kinda lacking that. It’s a bit lame that we kinda have find out about new shit through blogs and sites mostly non-Canadian based. But don’t think for a second that I’m gonna limit it to just Canada. It’s also open to showcasing what’s good with the world and Canadians outside the country doing big tings. Is the world ready for Toronto? I think so. And most of all I plan on dedicating a lot of my time to mostly original content. I’ll need a lot of help with accomplishing that one. So if you have anything you would like to contribute or if you’re interested in getting involved please shoot me an email at totally.wit.it@gmail.com.
By the way, thanks to everyone that’s been reading the the blog. The traffic’s totally jumped off and the visitors are coming from everywhere. I love it.
Second, next week I’ll be posting a new weekly mix of tunes we find on the net. When I speak of we, I’m speaking of DJ Evstarr and myself. We’re gonna try to do this “It’s Monday Already? Mix”. It’ll be fun I think. It’ll have shit from everywhere, new and old shit, remixes and edits. ‘Naw means? It’s gonna have that “the party ain’t over” feel. Cause it never is.
If you haven’t already heard Egyptrixx, The Sushi Mane and Evstarr went out to the left coast to put Cream Team on blast. I heard they fucking killed it too. We plan on coming out there again in the new year. This time I will make it there, for reals. Thanks to all the sponsors (Topshelf and Ransom!) and all the good peoples who made this shit possible.

While checking out the new look of MySpace today, I noticed that someone from VNDLSM was online, and since I missed checking Keith’s set lastnite at Andy Pool Hall (he cut into Lucie’s set to drop some new tunes, so I was told), I was gonna holla at him today for some new tracks for this here blog.
Luckily for me, they had recently uploaded some new mixes that I ‘ve yet to listen too, so I figured might as well up ‘em and we can all listen to it together. Aren’t I sweet?
As for new tracks from these guys, we’re both gonna have to wait.
I still currently don’t have any new mini mixes to put up, hopefully these bitches will be flooding my in-box in the coming weeks. So for know, I’m jacking this sick mix by Sinden off of Discobelle.

Some old joints that I’m still totally into…
As the newly appointed team manager for Ricta Wheels and Mob Griptape, the first thing on my agenda was to start thumbing through the list of potential cities that would make for an ideal skate trip. You know, an abundance of spots within a small vicinity, a low bust factor, picturesque scenery, cordial locals, and maybe even a little culture via a bevy of excellent restaurants. Besides being the team manager for Ricta and Mob, I also produce a series of skate DVDs called The Streets, where we spend a significant amount of time in a given metropolitan area and completely dissect everything it has to offer for you, the skateboarder. Well, Toronto, Ontario just happened to be on that list of cities that we wanted to cover, so I figured, hey, why not kill two birds with one stone and bring some team riders up to Canada to film for The Streets and shoot an article for TWS?
Originally, the crew was supposed to be Kerry Getz, Kareem Campbell, Cairo Foster, Enrique Lorenzo, Nick Palmquist, Jack Curtin, Antwuan Dixon, photographer Scott Pommier, filmer Los, and me. Sounds like quite the varied and solid crew, huh? Ahhh, if only they all made it to town. Kerry had to sell his house, so he couldn’t make it, and Jack got hurt in S.F. right before the trip. He had called me a few days before the trip and said he wanted to go and get a trick at the notorious Clipper ledge and needed someone to film it. I was down, but in the back of my head I wanted to tell him to save it for Toronto. But what are you gonna do? I don’t want to sound like dude’s mom. “Don’t jump down those stairs-you’re going to hurt yourself!”
Kareem had a nightmare with Canadian customs. They denied him for some passport B.S. A few days before we arrived in Toronto, authorities found an Al Qaeda terror cell pretty close to Toronto, so airport security was definitely “heightened.” Supposedly the terrorists wanted to blow up the Skydome, the retractable-roof stadium where the Blue Jays play. Now all the cars that go into the stadium are required to be searched by bomb-sniffing dogs, and they use giant mirrors to peer for any suspicious activity underneath the cars. Every time we’d be skating past the Skydome, we’d have this weird premonition that it was about to explode-no joke. Anyway, with everything so “heightened,” it was no surprise Los and his scruffy beard were pulled aside for no reason when we were first entering Canada. Antwuan Dixon did not get pulled aside, but that’s because he wasn’t with us-he had to do a tour for his shoe sponsor. We’re just his griptape sponsor, so I guess we’re a couple funny faces down on the totem pole. But come on, what grip sponsors actually do tours, right? Luckily Cairo, Nick, and Enrique made it out, and Appleyard happened to be in town during the same time, so it all worked out.
Toronto really is a multicultural city. We checked out Little Italy, Greektown, Little Portugal, Chinatown, and the Kensington Market among others. It was June, so the World Cup soccer (football, if you’re not American) games were going off and people were getting crazy in the streets just like they would in any European city. As far as our skateboarding schedule went, it was good timing to watch the games as they’d usually start around noon. We’d kick back and watch the first half and then go skate amongst the many cars and flags in the streets. If Italy won, we’d see a line of 30 cars all with the Italian flags waving out the window and people honking nonstop. The only problem was if you were in a car and got stuck in the middle of this lineup, you couldn’t escape for a good half hour.
Nightlife in Toronto goes off. It reminds me of San Francisco a bit, where most of the cool spots are smaller bars/clubs and everybody knows each other. But unlike S.F., where everything closes at 2:00 a.m., you can find tons of after-hour clubs and parties if you want to pull an all-nighter. Queen Street has tons of cool bars to check out, and like back in the day, there were a lot of house parties too, which was refreshing. Be sure to find this kid named Flo-he’s sure to hook it up. He looks like the Asian kid in Indiana Jones, but he has all the hooks in the T-Dot including the 80-dollar faux Bape hoodies-what?! You also have to track down Dan Bochart if you’re in town-nonstop laughs with this guy. Get a couple of Steam Whistles in him and get ready. But if you want to just kick it mellow and drink a few cold ones in the hotel, prepare yourself, because it’s not like America where there are liquor stores on every corner. They have beer stores, which are controlled by the government and close at 8:00 p.m., so get those coldies at noon and put ‘em on ice for later.
With its streets decorated in brick buildings, its summer nights incredibly hot and humid, and its parties often lasting until the early morn, Toronto definitely has that “East Coast” feel to it. And with the many spots littered within skating distance from one to the next, the skate scene definitely mimics that of New York or Philadelphia. The skaters travel in packs and consistently mob (no pun intended) the streets simultaneously instilling a bit of discomfort among the pedestrians. Like any city, downtown is where the largest concentration of marble-clad spots is, and sometimes the only way to get your licks in is to posse up 30 men deep and do the “bum-rush”-just barge the spots so that security is too overwhelmed to deal with all of you. We had to partake in the fun, and when you’re in town, make sure you go by Adrift skate shop or Shred Central and meet up with the locs who’ll show you how it’s done.
When the true need to hit a certain often-tightly guarded spot hits home, some locals even get so crazy as to fully lock the security guards into their own buildings by lodging their boards into the base of the door so that the door is completely inoperable, thus allowing their homeys a good few minutes before the police arrive. But another technique was the distraction trick where if someone wanted to do something at a certain part of a building, the crew would go skate the other side to bust the decoy and get all the guards to go there, all the while they’d be able to get their time on the opposite side of the building. We didn’t bust too many decoys, but our usual routine was to skate all the suburban spots in the day and hit downtown at night. There’s something about skating amazing marble spots in the hot summer nights-so good. As the city is quite huge at over four-million people, the suburban spots are plentiful. Yonge Street is the longest street in the world, so you pretty much drive up it and you’ll find all kinds of cool banks, ledges, rails, and other random hodgepodge. With all the mobbing that went on, it’s hard to believe that in the three weeks we were there, we only got kicked out of spots on two occasions. Not bad.
Satva’s Toronto Must-Hit Top 10
1. The Skydome Banks
The infamous bank-to-curb spot. Not a bust and there is the Steam Whistle Brewery right there where you can take a tour and get a free six-pack.
2. The Beaches
This nice sandy beach is about a fifteen-minute drive east on the lake, but check the bacteria levels in the water should you go in.
3. Adrift
This is the meet-up spot located in the cool Kensington Market. Tons of food around there, and all the local skaters chill there all day long.
4. Daybreak (a.k.a. Johnny Cakes)
This a good breakfast spot where everything comes with a side of pancakes.
5. Downtown In The Dark
The many dope marble spots are best to hit at night.
6. Pho 88
I love my Pho Vietnamese chicken noodle soup. This spot is open ’til 4:00 a.m. and is good and cheap.
7. Ledgeland
This spot is actually two hours outside of Toronto but has the most amazing metal ledges, hence the name.
8. Kensington Market
This area has tons of food spots, cool shops, and has that European feel to it.
9. CBC
This downtown skate spot is never a bust-just go after 2:00 p.m. ’cause all the business people eat lunch on the ledges from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
10. The Brass Rail
Mad backside lipslides down the rail-that’s it.
If ya’ll don’t believe me, you can read the original article here.
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve seen DJ Law throw down. So when he put this nice “old school mix” up, I figured I’d make Friday a little doper. Light that blunt up and press play. The stoner the better.
Naw means?
Evstarr, Egyptrixx and The Sushi Mane have returned from their mini adventure to the westcoast. I should be posting the photos sometime real soon.
One of the reasons the boys went out to the leftcoast of Canada was to give Cream Team a little western exposure as well as promote Evstarr & The Sushi Mane’s recent collaborative project entitled Trap Stars & Air Guitars.
It aint tryin’ to be revolutionary or too original, Trap Stars and Air Guitars is more a technical showcase of both Ev’s and Sushi Mane’s skill. What it is guaranteed to do though is induce constant air guitarring just like in Bill and Ted’s Excellent adventure.
DJ Evstarr & The Sushi Mane – Trap Stars and Air Guitars
Another good download if ya’ll don’t already got it is the Egyptrixx’s Child Support tune. Definitley a fast paced smasher on the floor.
Also, I wanna apologize if it seems like I’m rehashing my content. I am actually doing it on purpose. I keep putting shit up without any real information, so sometimes I like to go back and fill in the blanks. It’s really due to the fact that I’m lazy. But I plan to get into some drugs and bitches tonite, hopefully creating some new content.
Having fallen behind on my updates, I’ve had to turn to my friends blogs as resources to help keep this thing fresh. So while surfin’ the net during the weekend I’ve managed to compile a whole bunch of tracks I’ve yet to post on the blog.
Here’s a few I’ve found over the past few days…
Fistfight Edits via Curb Crawlers -
To My Boy – Model (Sinden remix – Fistfight dub edit)
Riva Starr – Bubbles (Fistfight edit)
A few weeks ago my homies from the Stylusts Crew launched their official blog. So far they’ve been really on point with the updates.
Rockwell – Who’s Watching (Techtwelve Remix)
Torture Music – Mike Tull
I’ll some more updates throughout the day. A few more party announcements ya’ll prolly know about or might didn’t about as well.

Discobelle hooks up yet another mix. Definitely a great site for downloading mixes. Always on top of their game.
“a brand spanking new Daft Punk mix, that Thomas and Guy-Manuel just did for the Louis Vuitton Spring 2008 fashion show in Paris last week.”
Daft Punk Mix for Louis Vuitton
The mix is pretty fuckin’ retarded. One that’s gonna get plenty of play within my rotation.
LV is definitely one that is getting it. No wonder so many streetwear label brands have ripped and copy their shit. They’re more than just putting this shit on blast, their helping set the pace.
Download: Bmore Marc by Marc Jacobs (music only)
Randomly noting:
I’m definitely disappointed that I missed Alan Braxe & DJ Falcon at The Social Bar the other nite. But my back is aching so fucking much I’ve become a whiny old fucking man. No joke. It’s like I just hit 30 or something.

So the blog’s taken it down a notch over the past two weeks. Never fear I ain’t going nowhere. Just been kinda sick and stayin’ in to enjoy fall television. But I promise, over the next few days I will be taking this to a whole new level.
I have also been redesigning the look of the blog once again. It seems like there’s a problem with leaving it alone. I am always tinkering with its appearance. It’s prolly cause I read it so often that I’m always trying to make sure that it’s visibly appeasable. I read the blog sometimes like somebody else wrote it. Now, isn’t that weird? But some of the shit on here is like so fucking funny. ‘Naw means?
Another reason that the blog’s been really thin lately is because I wasn’t too sure of the direction I wanted the blog to take or if I wanted the blog to have any direction at all. I mean, I did call it “Does it look like I give a fuck?” for a reason. I called it that so could write about anything without; you guessed it, giving a fuck. Therefore, I have decided to keep it just the way it is.
What is this really about?
“It is just about Parties, Fun and Frolics…dare I call it Hedonistic.
And the blatant honesty needs a ray of shine…read his declaration: -FOR LOWER EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY
A Conditioning from an Alternate Direction” – Fats Shariff
Now there is a man who totally gets it.
Well to be honest, most people who I have gotten to meet that say they read the blog really get it too. It’s not like it’s hidden in there within all its other content or anything. It is right there always looking you in the face. LIFE IS THE PARTY.
My life is my party. Really & Truly. I live it like one its just one crazy nite. Maybe it’s wrong the live this way. But I’m still having way too much fun to stop. Does it even have to stop? I know this isn’t for everyone. People need to do other things, much more important things. But what if my purpose is exactly this. To help those who lead such busy lives chill out for a minute.
What if I can use my influences to help people to lose their shit?
It is not forever, mind you. I wouldn’t wanna be stuck with a whole lotta people doin’ nothing. But just for a the night.
I’ll keep writing this thing and we’ll all find out.
Once again I’ve decided to add another feature to the blog. It’s called the “Mini Mix”. It will be a mini mix series made by some of my favourite Toronto DJ’s.
The first DJ up on the mini mix series is my homie and Your Boy Brian of More Proof.
He was the first DJ I asked when I decided on adding this feature about two weeks ago. It didn’t take him long to get back to me. And even though he claims, “this shit is a bit sloppy. but my headache was outta control”…its still pretty dope shit.
He didn’t send me a track listing, so if you’re really dying to find out a name of a song, go bug him yo’ self.

I’m about 16 days late on this but a good read non the less. Parra and the Rockwell Clothing brand are near tops on my list when it comes to some of my favourite artwork and designs. Read it on Fecal Face.
My homie Zach Slootsky getting some internet love. Read the interview here.
symptoms are as follows: 1. A grandiose sense of self-importance. 2. Believing yourself to be special and only understood by other special people. 3. Requiring excessive admiration. 4. A tendency to use other people. 5. A sense of entitlement whereby you believe your request should automatically be met. 6. An inability to empathize with other people, bordering on solipsism. 7. Being perceived by other as arrogant and haughty.
I dunno if you’re reading this, but I’m trying to tell you something. Hopefully you’ll take sometime out and listen.
sol·ip·sism [sol-ip-siz-uh
m] –noun
2. extreme preoccupation with and indulgence of one’s feelings, desires, etc.; egoistic self-absorption.
To help promote Topshelf Motherfucker’s Fall 2007 line, they’ve teamed up with Ottawa’s DJ crew Jokers of the Scene for a tshirt and promo cd. You can listen or download the mix here. But make sure to visit the Topshelf MF website to purchase the shirt.
On a previous post (third from the top to be exact), I spoke about adding a new feature to the blog entitled “5 Random Questions with…”. As I thought about more and more, I came up with some adjustments I could apply with the different fields my friends and/or interviewee’s were involved in, while keeping it still at random.
And that’s when I came up with “Can I Get A Flicc Witchu”. Where featured photographer’s get to pick 5 random photos and give them a sentence or paragraph in which the words doesn’t have to make any sense with the photos.
They can say or talk about anything they want or just describe a feeling or memory the photo might give them.
The photographer’s answers to “5 Random Questions with…“
So to my faithful readers, without further delay I am proud to announce that for my first ever installment to “Can I Get A Flicc Withchu”, I have asked the very skilled Fats Shariff aka Fatsarazzi do to the honors. Might I add he did more than just break bread, he buttered it.
To see more of Fatsarazzi’s work, make sure to visit the following site – The Chosen View, When What & Now, TALK/talk, Hypebeast, Slam x Hype, Bonds International & The Schemes.
The 3rd and final installment to “Back Like Cooked Crack” will be an interview with non other than promoter extrordinaire, Miss Oxy Cottontail.
Just like the firsts and second installment, Oxy has not only continued to succeed in her field but she’s expaned her resume by means of becoming a rapper/singer. Earlier this year, she released a solo ep and played at the Drake Hotel here in Toronto (which we co-hosted by the way).
The interview was originally published on September 2005 via the online magazine I continue not to name (as to avoid any sort of confrontation).
Would you like to introduce yourself and tell everyone what it is you do?
I’m known to most as Oxy Cottontail or Roxy. Most know me as a nightclub promoter and booker. I’m really a designer and I can be a publicist when I feel like it. I book bands, DJs, design events, plan showcases, mostly music that makes people move. I also work for aNYthing on the media and music side of things. I am also the late night coordinator of Joe’s Pub, I produce and book the events after 11pm at this legendary live music venue in the heart of the East Village.
I basically hustle music.
So how long have you been promoting for? Did this start in Philly?
I’ve been promoting “Oxy” for over a year and half now. I began promoting parties about 4 years ago as a sub-promoter for Motherfucker here in NYC while I was working as a designer in the beauty/accessories business. I lived with Justine D. and god bless my baby girl, I learned EVERYTHING about promoting just by living with her. Through osmosis of everyday life we lead together she made me realize I could do something I love and don’t need a corny 9 to 5 to survive.
After 9/11 I moved to Philly for a job in jewelry design and to clear my head and experience another city, just to switch it up. It turned out to be possibly one of the greatest things I could do with my life because I began going to Hollertronix, a party created by Diplo & Low Budget in the Ukranian Club of North Philly. I fell hard for the party but I could not dream big enough in Philly, so I moved back to NYC and brought Hollertronix here with me.
PS. I am originally from the suburbs of Baltimore, not Philly like most think.
Is it hard being a promoter in New York?
Yeah I bet it is hard for some promoters in NYC, only the strong survive here. I feel as though I’ve been grinding something serious and I’ve accumulated a pretty deep fan base in downtown. Kids now know that I have love for some good & new music. I also like laidback clubs, and loud/nice sound systems. I am not the biggest fan of rain or snow – that is the hard part. The constant grinding is pretty solid and routine now, I’m so used to it. It is a ton of work, and it gets easier when weekly parties are running themselves, it helps a lot. Retail Mafia Mondays used to be me and 20 dudes. Now look at it, it’s full of hot young people every Monday.
How much time is spent on promoting?
Is this your fulltime job? Yeah it’s 24/7, my life. Party Animal some say. It’s beyond fulltime now.
What are some of your weekly nites?
RETAIL MAFIA MONDAYS @ Sway (305 Spring St.)
-The best club/lounge in NYC. Here all the RM brands let me showcase the best DJs in the city. A-trak and The X-ecutioners come over and juggle it every so often, old school Alamo, new school Ronson or Low Budget. I fly in Texas DJs occasionally for SCREW YORK CITY. This is a night I try to keep monthly in the Retail Mafia weekly since the South is so hot right now. Mondays are like a Downtown living room with all our friends and associates who inspire us to hustle. There are also the randoms but they look interesting enough, random celebrities also stop by. Red Stripe or Harp Lager also sponsors the night with an hour and a half of FREE BEER. We have a really tasty Halloween party to plan too.
EASTSIDE GANGBANG FRIDAYS @ Mission (217 Bowery)
-My partner Bill Spector and I put this night on. It’s fun for dancing and acting a fool. It goes pretty late, 2 Floors of fun, some B & T, the weirdos are downstairs for the most part. Spankrock has performed in the VIP Banquet twice, I freak out on the owner pretty often, its always entertaining. I have mostly downtown DJs come through and once in awhile a Baltimore DJ will come slaughter it on the booty house tip. I’m mostly dancing or taking pictures while Bill hangs out in front of the club. I pop bottles for my friends here, lots of birthday parties.

Can you describe your clientele?
Are you constantly drawing new crowds with your humongous selection of DJ’s and MC’s? My clientele consists of a massive mix of music heads, weirdos, fashionistas, drunks, thugs, artists, downtown derels, dancers, hipsters in NYC, Philly & Baltimore, open bar addicts, head turners, designers, graffiti fuckers and some. Yeah, I think I am always drawing a new audience, my DJ arsenal is massive and now I just started booking live music very heavily. My Rolodex tripled when I started as late night coordinator for Joe’s Pub. Shit is hella hectic right now.
Who are some of the talent that has performed at your parties?

If you could sum up your career with one party, which one would it be and why?
Either the weekly…Retail Mafia Monday because it’s home in a dirtier and funnier, way more live way.
OR
My 23rd Birthday at B-Bar with: Hollertronix, DJ Technics, Jumex and Nate the Great. I was walking around with a baseball bat over my shoulders when I wasn’t splitting open bunny piñatas or dancing. A-ron was feeding me drinks. Sparks was a sponsor and made me black the fuck out; I was Oxy on blast that night.
So what’s hot right now? Like what are some of the things you are feeling right now?
Musically, Diplo & MIA are untouchable. Dipset, Kudu and Spankrock. Green Lantern Instrumentals mix is in heavy rotation right now. I grew up listening to punk and my parent’s stoner records (Misfits, Cream, Black Flag, Jimi Hendrix, Bikini Kill) and I still do, they will always be hot. The Viola mix on Money Studies by XXXchange & Chris Rockswell is the hottest mix of the year. Hollerrtonix just released a new 12” on Money Studies, the TV on the Radio mix is an oldie but new too most, it is really hot.
I get new mixes daily so those examples are just generally always fun to listen too.
I am also feeling Espadrilles, Megu, PC Dolo, Patron on the rox, bath products from www.LUSH.com, HoustonSoReal.blogspot.com, the hot ass summer, my grandparents beach house in South Cacalaka.
What’s your role within New York’s Retail Mafia?
I’m the Heidi Fleiss of Retail Mafia.
Do you also play a part in A-Ron’s a NY thing record label?
Yeah I am behind aNYthing through media & music. I introduced him to Plastic Little and Kudu, so a little A & R. It is so new; we are all learning our piece in the puzzle of it all. The music he is releasing is some of the best. A-ron has a great ear.
What would you say is the best part of your job?
Watching Hollertronix become as big as they have. I put in some real work to promote those dudes. It’s rewarding and nice to see things blossom when you feel a really good thing and take risks. Seeing Philly, and now Baltimore getting recognition in the media and clubs is really sweet. Milk in SF keeps bringing us out there, which is a ton of fun, I like that city. Hosting parties with Houston So Real is straight fire; we always flip some shit together. When we brought Devin the Dude up here for his NYC debut, it felt like a dream.
VIP treatment, mad mix tapes, free stuff, meeting creative people, press, spreading the word about good beats, lyrics or blends, hosting parties, popping bottles for my friends, being on top of the game and traveling is fun too.
And the worst part would be?
People trying to social climb me…it hurts! I am too nice sometimes.
How’d your search for an assistant go?
Is that working out for you? I’m still searching. What I really need is a project manager, investor, assistant, account & lawyer, if you know anyone.
What’s next for Oxy? What can we look forward to?
CMJ is looking pretty ridiculous right now; Bun B is going to host the showcase I’m flipping with Complex magazine. aNYthing is opening a store soon. I don’t wanna say too much.
Describe a perfect night out?
I would go to Megu for dinner with my dude, then some drink in the LES with friends. Call up Big Broadway; go see Kudu play in a packed house at Joes Pub. Hopefully cuddling by 2am (that’s early for me).
Anything I forget to ask?
My favorite drink?
How rude of me. If it’s not too late, should I have the chance to offer you a drink what would it be?
Veuve Clicquot Champagne OR Jack on the Rocks & a Red Stripe.
Got any ideas on who I should feature next?
Man, who to plug? You know who you should feature is CLAW, that woman is a super hero to me. She’s got a film coming out soon called Infamy on her life as a graffiti writer. She is the best and her clothing line is hella hot too.
Last words and or shout outs?
Diplo, Low Budget, A-ron, Bugsy, Bill Spector, Catchdubs, Justine D, Claw, Sarah Bronilla, Greg Naw, Fiona Bloom, Matt Sonzala & my parents all gave me inspiration and confidence at one point to do me. I would still be behind a random desk if it weren’t for them. All my party girls and guys thoroughly keeping OXY on lock. The Unicorn Skullz: fucking for rainbows daily. PMS for life.
Switching roles, if you were interviewing yourself, how would you end this interview?
Roxy Summers it was an honor and privilege to interview a woman of your caliber. Thanks!
*Just like baseball, three up three down and I’m out. Don’t worry though folks as this was just a warm up. Look for new interviews coming your way.
The next installation to Back Like Cooked Cracked, is an interview with a very talented photographer who goes by the name of Boogie. The interview was originaly published in October of 2005. Almost a year before his book, “It’s All Good” was printed on powerHouse Books. He was the first ever photographer I interviewed. I found his site, Art Coup randomly on the internet. I decided to hit him up. This was the end result…
Please state your name, where are you from and your current location?
Boogie, born/raised in Belgrade, live/work in Brooklyn, NY. I’ve been living in NY for last 7-8 years.
What is it that you do?
I’m a street photographer. Or documentary photographer. Something like that.
How did you become a photographer? Was it something you’ve always wanted to be?
Hm. My dad and my grandfather were both photographers, more on the amateur side, but that must’ve been a big influence…then during the crisis in ex-Yugoslavia I started collecting vintage cameras (people were starving, selling stuff from their homes just to survive), then eventually decided to use one of them. Then my dad got me a ‘real’ camera. When the first few images started appearing in the developer inside my bathroom/darkroom I was hooked (for life probably).
I never really had plans on becoming a photographer, I studied ‘Microprocessors & Electronics’ on Belgrade University. And yeah, I graduated but I never did that…

Did you study to become a photographer?
No, I never studied anything related to photography.
Can you remember the first photograph you took?
Oh yeah of course I do — it was a head shot of my god-daughter Vesna…
When was your first photograph published?
In 1993, for a magazine in Belgrade.
For those who aren’t familiar with your name, where might they have seen your work?
Hm,hm,hm – Mass Appeal, MADE magazine, CUBE, Hamburger Eyes, YRB, OjoDePez, Project Therapy…
If you don’t mind sharing, what camera are you currently using? What type of lenses?
Usually Nikon F3 + 24/2.8 + 50/1.2 + 85/1.4 …. Whenever I go to the ghetto I bring an F3. I also have an F5 and fancy AF lenses but you know, if I get robbed or something, I’m off better losing the cheaper set.
How do you find your subject matters for your shoots?
Not sure really, it just happens … I’m always after extremes, and (unfortunately ) normal everyday life doesn’t inspire me anymore. I hope that changes some day … it’s all good while you are shooting, but everything gets to you later, it stays in your head, and you have to live with it.
Are you finding satisfaction in your work?
Oh yes, of course. I can’t really imagine not doing it…I have to have my daily dose of shooting.
What are some of your inspirations and influences?
I love work of Antonin Kratochvil, Eugene Richards, Paolo Pellegrin…
If you could shoot one person today, who would it be?
I think Zarqawi…
Let’s say you aren’t a photographer today, what would you be doing?
Anything ‘creative’…I can’t really say, but I think you can find satisfaction in any kind of work. Acting sounds very interesting…
What is the future looking like for Boogie? Do you have any solo or group shows forthcoming? What can we expect from Boogie?
My first book, ‘It’s all good’ will be published in Spring 2007 with Miss Rosen Editions for powerHouse Books. This book will be a collection of photographs of gangs and drug addiction .
I plan to go to Kingston, Jamaica, very soon, I have a very good friend (and also a very talented photographer, Peter Dean Pickards) there…
Would you recommend someone for me to interview?
Anything you feel I missed?
No worries, you did ok.
P.S. I have in my collection a huge selection of photos he had given me for the original interview. I choose these five to coincide with the theme, Backed Like Cooked Cracked.
Boogie Fever (signed copy) & It’s All Good (regular edition)

Mr. Take More Photos
AWOL’S BABEWATCH
While going through my emails the other day I found a shit load of old work I did for an online magazine. Since we never really had an exclusivity contract in place I figured I’d repost them on this here blog as a way of achieving ‘em for both personal and professional use. The sites been revamped and all of its original content are gone. So why the fuck not, right?
Therefore, here is the first installment to Back Like Cooked Crack. It’s an interview with both Leah and Sharon (former partner) focusing not only on what was then an up and coming women’s line from NY but also on their lifestyle. Most streetwear lines are a reflection of the people behind it so it was only fitting to get into detail of what these women where all about.
Originally published in August 2005, Married to The Mob has since then blown the fuck up. They’ve been featured in just about everything you can possibly imagine. Vogue to Nylon, MTTM has managed to collab with the likes of Kaws, Wu Tang Clan to MCM. It’s definitely nice to see that they more than lived up to most peoples expectations. They killed It. But enough with the babbling already, without further delay I present to you A Most Offical interview…
BOYS AINT SHIT BUT HOES & TRICKS
How did you ladies put MTTM together? Were there any major issues MTTM had to overcome before you could put the line out? If yes, how did you deal with it?
We were just chillin last summer, netither one of us had a job….so we just decided to start a t-shirt line….we had nothing else to do. No really, we had good ideas and the connections to get the product made so we did it. Nah, luckily we didn’t have to deal with any real issues…we don’t really get stressed out about shit anyway…it’s not worth it.
What inspires MTTM? As women in general what influences you do keep moving on a daily basis? How has MTTM affected you personal life and vice versa?
Living in New York it is really easy to find inspiration…all you have to do is take a walk down the block no matter where in the city you live, there will always be some crazy shit going on. We get inspired by a variation of many different things…… bums and junkies, Chanel, Goyard, expensive shit, haters, lovers, purple rabbits, white trash, God, 1996, our friends, just to name a few. Well in terms of our personal life, it’s funny because there are websites where people we don’t even know talk about us….plus it has changed our relationship, sometimes we fight and we have to learn to separate business from friendship and not take anything personal.
Who are you feeling right now? Who’s wack in your opinion right now? Feel free to answer freely because from what I’ve seen and read you ladies aint fucking shy?
Roberto Cavalli has some ill, over the top shit…some high-end guidette shit…so does Versace…As always, we love Balenciaga, Hanes and YSL. Marc Jacobs sucks!
Do you have a good story to tell? Something you’d like to share with the readers, like a day in your shoes. What is it like just being you?
We were talking to possible investors…they decided to take us to PM (a club in the meatpacking district) after dinner. Up till that point, they loved us! We had a booth—-some little drunk bitch decided to run up on our table & start dancing…it was ridiculous! So I pushed her off the table. She fell on the floor and hit her head off the edge of the table. It was ugly. Her friend tried to get loud then and Leah threw a drink in her face. The investors were stunned but their girlfriends were happier than shit. They thought the skanks were trying to steal their men, or at least their men’s black cards…..Being us is pretty fun.
If you don’t mind me asking…describe the perfect man. How would you like to be approached by a man? What’s the worse pick up line you’ve ever been given?
Leah: My man is the absolutely most perfect guy for me. Smart, creative successful and yet modest. I hate show off-y guys…that’s so faggy to me. And most importantly he is in love me as much as I’m in love with him. We are going to live happily ever after….what more does any girl want. I like to be the one who approaches the aggressor. The last thing I want is my guy to be aggressive. Worst pick up line would have to be “Hey mami” I guess that doesn’t sound so bad…but it was coming from an amputee in a wheelchair outside the AIDS clinic on Rivington.
Sharon: The perfect man makes me laugh, has his shit together, got style, and is my biggest fan. I hate when men approach me…I just assume they approach everyone. I keep walking when I hear pick up lines…but the worst shit that happened recently—some little bastard paid me a compliment when I passed him on the street, I kept walking, and because I ignored him, he threatened “to kick me in the chest”.
Being really random, pick between theses options and tell us why.
Leah:
Diamonds or Furs? Diamonds especially canary
Gucci or Louis Vuitton? Clothes- Gucci Bags-LV classic
Jay Z or Nas? Nas
Pharrell or Kanye West? Pharrell. Fuck the roc
Shower or Bath? Bath
The beach or the spa? Beach (Amagansett)
Dinner and a movie or pre-drinking then the club? Depends…dinner and a movie with my man then pre-drinking and clubbing with the MOB Crew
Sharon:
Diamonds or Furs? Diamonds—they have a better resale value.
Gucci or Louis Vuitton? Neither. Goyard.
Jay Z or Nas? I love them both. But I have to go with J.
Pharrell or Kanye West? Kanye.
Shower or Bath? Bath
The beach or the spa? The Beach.
Dinner and a movie or pre-drinking then the club? Fuck the movies…dinner & drinks then more drinks at da club.
A good night in N.Y. is accomplished how?
By hanging with us.
If you could do a collaboration with anybody who would it be?
KAWS
Say there was no MTTM right now, what would you be doing?
Leah: Having babies
Sharon: Collecting welfare.
Any last words or shout outs?
Check yourself…
And there you have it folks. Look out for the next installment coming to you very soon, or maybe not. This was a bitch to reformat, still it was hella fun.
